GOST 8486-86. SOFTWOOD LUMBER



This standard applies to softwood sawn timber and establishes technical requirements for sawn timber intended for use in the national economy and for export.

The standard does not apply to resonant and aeronautical sawn timber.

1. MAIN PARAMETERS AND DIMENSIONS

1.1. sawn timber is divided into edged, unedged, boards, planks and bars.Terms and definitions - as per GOST 18288.


1.2. nominal dimensions of sawn timber and limit deviations from nominal dimensions - according to GOST 24454.

As agreed with a customer sawn timber is allowed for domestic market with gradation on length, dimensions and allowable deviations, set in GOST 9302 and GOST 26002.

1.3 The conventional designation should consist of the name of the sawn timber (plank, bar, beam), the number designating grade, the name of the species of wood (coniferous or separate species - pine, spruce, larch, cedar, fir), the digital designation of the cross-section (for unedged timber - thickness) and the designation of this standard.

2. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

2.1 Timber should meet the requirements of this standard and be made from wood of the following species: pine, if, fir, larch and cedar.


2.2 Boards and sawn timber are divided into five grades (selected, 1, 2, 3, 4), and sawn timber are divided into four grades (1, 2, 3, 4), according to timber quality and processing, and must comply with the requirements specified in the table/.

The designation of the different grades of sawn timber is given in the annex.

2.3 Selected, 1st, 2nd, 3rd tier sawn timber is manufactured dry (with humidity not exceeding 22 %), damp (with humidity exceeding 22 %), and damp, antiseptic. During the period from May, 1st till October, 1st raw antiseptic and damp sawn timber is permitted as agreed with the consumer (customer).

The humidity of grade 4 sawn timber is not regulated.

The antisepsis is according to GOST 10950.

2.4 Quality assessment of sawn timber, with the exception of deck sawn timber, must be made on the plate or edge worst for this board, and beams and planks of square section - on the worst side.

2.5 The surface roughness parameter of sawn timber 7?mmax must not exceed 1250 μm for selected, 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades, and for the 4th grade - 1600 μm according to GOST 7016.

2.6 Non-parallelism of boards and edges in edged sawn timber, as well as boards in unedged sawn timber is permitted within the limits of deviations from the nominal dimensions specified in GOST 24454.
